Yenu Allowah Child and Family Centre
Client: Uniting, Gowrie, Link Up and Housing NSW
Location: Mt Druitt, NSW (Darug Land)
This project integrated an early learning service and a family services around shared garden areas. The project involved careful delineation to provide both communal areas and zones that were distinct to particular usage. The projects developed as a partnership and drew on expertise of the different constituent organisations. Key elements of the project were:
- a single, welcoming entry that provided orientation to different programs
- a central garden, stepping back to small more private gardens
- working with the scale of children through the size of spaces and joinery
- setting up learning areas as self-contained bases for exploration
