Aoiffe studied Architecture at University College Dublin and worked in commercial practices in Ireland, focusing on residential design, before coming to Australia. She has experience in community participation strategies and group facilitation, which helps in assessing end user’s requirements, and working constructively towards realising the most suitable brief for a project. While based in London, she worked on a number of international community buildings, primarily a school in Burkina Faso, where she became acutely aware of the importance of climatic design. In 2011, Aoiffe travelled to Nicaragua to lead a collaborative project between an Irish and a local NGO, constructing a school which is operational today.
