Fletcher Street House
Wentworth Falls

This building in the Blue Mountains is set on a steep slope, surrounded by waratahs and rhododendrons in an established garden. The client wanted to retain the garden and create a level building that opened out to the surrounding bush like a tent. The building:

> provides a range of small sitting areas around the edge of the building and uses sliding and folding panels to develop a strong relationship to outdoor areas.
> is oriented to catch prevailing breezes that, together with high level vents and fans, keep it cool in summer.
> displays high-level craftsmanship through a construction system based on extensive use of Australian recycled hardwoods.
